1. Who we are

Mandarin Builder is an independent app for learning spoken Mandarin, developed by an individual developer. For any questions about this app or this policy, contact us at sinotrek@foxmail.com.

2. Overview

Mandarin Builder helps beginners learn spoken Mandarin for travel. Our principle is simple: your data stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store personal information on any server — because we don't have servers.

3. Information we do NOT collect

• No account creation or sign-in required
• No names, email addresses, or phone numbers
• No location data (GPS or network-based)
• No microphone access or audio recordings
• No usage analytics, crash logs, or behavioral tracking
• No advertising networks or third-party SDKs
• No push notification tokens — all reminders are scheduled locally on your device

4. Data stored on your device

All learning data is stored locally on your device using Apple's standard storage (UserDefaults and app files). This includes:

• Lesson progress (which lessons you've completed)
• Flashcard review history (for spaced repetition scheduling)
• Sentences you've saved to "My Sentences"
• Your app settings (audio speed, text size, daily reminder)

LOCAL ONLY. This data never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to us or any third party. Deleting the app removes all of this data permanently.

5. In-app purchases

All purchases, including the full course unlock and optional tip donations, are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information, credit card numbers, or Apple ID credentials. Apple's privacy policy governs all transactions: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

6. Audio and offline use

All audio (pinyin, example sentences, travel phrases) is bundled within the app — nothing is streamed from servers, and no microphone access is requested or used. Core learning features work fully offline. The only network use is Apple's purchase flow and viewing this privacy page.

7. Daily reminders

If you enable daily reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device. Nothing is sent to a remote server — notifications are triggered by your device itself. You can disable them at any time in the app's Settings screen or iOS Settings.

8. Children's privacy

The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 — so no data is collected from children either.

9. Your rights

Since we collect no data, there is nothing for you to request, export, or delete on our side. All your data is on your device and under your direct control. Deleting the app removes all progress — your purchase can always be restored with the same Apple ID.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this policy, we will update this page and note the new effective date. Any future version that introduces data collection will require your explicit opt-in consent.
